For the TPs, Sif will produce the primary steel and Smulders is in charge of the outfitting.

Fabrication works are scheduled for the second half of this year and the first quarter of 2018.

In October 2016, the two companies won a contract from GeoSea for Belgian Rentel offshore wind farm.

The Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Norther offshore wind project was reached mid-December 2016, when MHI Vestas Offshore Wind and Van Oord were awarded contracts, under which Van Oord has been hired as the Balance of Plant contractor and MHI Vestas agreed to deliver 44 of its V164-8.0 MW turbines optimised to deliver a maximum output of 8.4MW.

Van Oord’s activities encompass the engineering, procurement, supply and installation of 44 wind turbine foundations, OHVS, inter-array and export cables, as well as the installation of the turbines. For the transport and installation of the foundations and turbines, the company intends to deploy its offshore installation vessel Aeolus and cable-laying vessel Nexus.

The Norther project is owned by Norther N.V., a joint venture between Elicio and Boreas with three sponsors: Elicio N.V. (50%), Eneco (25%) and Mitsubishi Corporation (25%).
