The wind turbine installation vessel will be 101 metres long, 43 metres wide, with a draft of 8.4 metres.

The vessel will have a lifting capacity of 2,000 tons and will be delivered in 2018, ZPMC said.

This is the third wind turbine installation vessel ZPMC will build for Jiangsu Longyuan Zhenhua Marine Engineering.

The company also owns and operates cable installation vessels.

Jiangsu Longyuan Zhenhua Marine Engineering is a 50-50 joint venture between ZPMC and Jiangsu Longyuan Offshore Wind Power, a unit of China Longyuan Power Group.

The company’s latest project was the installation of two turbines at the Formosa 1 offshore wind farm, the first offshore wind turbines to be installed in waters off Taiwan.

The two turbines are the first phase in setting up the Formosa 1 offshore wind farm. The installation of turbines was completed in October with the wind farm expected to be commissioned in early 2017.

The entire project consists of 32 turbines, with the second phase planned to be constructed in 2018/2019.
