Smulders Kicks Off Beatrice Works

Smulders has completed the first jacket foundation section for the Beatrice offshore wind farm, for which the company is building a total of 28 jackets. according to Beatrice project’s social media pages.

Smulders Projects was awarded the contract for 28 Beatrice jacket foundations by Seaway Heavy Lifting, which is in charge of the engineering, procurement, construction, transport and installation of the piled foundations, jacket substructures and inter-array cables for the project.

Smulders joined Bladt, which will build 30 jacket foundations, and BiFab, which will fabricate 26 jackets for this project. Beatrice foundations have also put Sif and EEW SPC to work.

Offshore installation activities will be executed in 2017 and 2018 using Seaway Heavy Lifting’s heavy-lift vessels, Stanislav Yudin and Oleg Strashnov.

The 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm will comprise 84 Siemens 7MW turbines installed in the Outer Moray Firth, off the north coast of Scotland.

The wind farm is expected to be commissioned in 2019.
