The next Part I application deadline is now scheduled for 18 January, 2017.

The extension of the effective period for LPO’s Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) number was extended for three years, allowing LPO to issue new Part I and Part II application deadlines into 2019.

The Title XVII loan program applies to a wide range of energy technologies, including advanced fossil energy, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. LPO is currently accepting applications in response to the following open Title XVII solicitations:

  • Advanced Fossil Energy Projects Solicitation
  • Advanced Nuclear Energy Projects Solicitation
  • Renewable Energy and Efficient Energy Projects Solicitation

To be eligible for a Title XVII loan guarantee, a project must employ new or significantly improved technologies as compared to commercial technologies in services in the United States at the time the guarantee is issued. Also, a project must be located in the United States, with foreign ownership or sponsorship of the projects permissible as long as the project is located in one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.

Eligible renewable energy projects include solar, wind, ocean, hydroelectric, hydrokinetic, geothermal, biomass, and renewable waste resources.

In 2014, the US Department of Energy (DOE) issued a loan guarantee solicitation, making USD 4 billion available in loan guarantees for innovative renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
