EDF Launches Innovation Challenge for Inspection Methods

EDF Energy is inviting businesses to apply for up to GBP 10,000 to develop new inspection methods for nuclear reactors and offshore wind farms.

Businesses and consortia can apply for the EDF Energy Innovation Challenge competition, run together by Innovate UK and EDF to stimulate new inspection and monitoring systems.

The aim of the competition is to identify new and innovative ways to inspect and monitor EDF Energy’s power generation assets. The competition has 2 themes based on existing challenges within EDF’s nuclear fleet and offshore wind farms:

• challenge 1 – the inspection of high-risk components in EDF’s advanced gas-cooled nuclear reactors.
• challenge 2 – finding long-term solutions for offshore wind monopile foundation corrosion monitoring and control

This competition is open now and the application deadline is Wednesday, 28 September 2016.
