“Jan De Nul is one of the first to install this new mega turbine and is of course very proud to be a part of this innovative demonstrator project and to work for one of the most important players in the market,” said Peter De Pooter, Area Manager Renewables at Jan De Nul Group.

The Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Project, being developed by EDF Energy Renewables, will feature five 8MW turbines optimised to deliver a maximum output of 8.3MW. The project is the first to utilize 66kV electrical infrastructure and hybrid gravity-monopile foundations.

It will be installed in water depths up to 45m approximately 5.7km off the coast of Blyth, north of Newcastle in the UK.

The installation is expected to be carried out in Q3 2017.
