JDR will also deliver high voltage and fibre optic cable jointers and associated competency systems, with Bibby Offshore providing equipment for on-deck cable handling, storage carousel or reels, as well as cable lay and subsea equipment for lifting, excavation and burial of cables.

The agreement was signed yesterday, during the opening day of Global Offshore Wind 2016 conference and exhibition in Manchester, UK.

JDR CEO, David Currie, said: “This agreement is an example of JDR’s expanding range of services to the global energy industry. Our technicians are highly experienced in offshore construction activities and we are delighted to partner with Bibby Offshore for future cable maintenance tenders.”

At the beginning of this month, Bibby Offshore bought a power cable lay carousel from Ecosse Subsea Systems (ESS), to enable cable laying of offshore wind power cables from its vessels, and partnering with JDR has further strengthened its business move into the offshore wind industry.

Bibby Offshore MD Barry Macleod said: “This agreement builds upon our recently announced cooperation with Ecosse Subsea Ltd and is a further example of the collaborative approach that we are bringing our offshore energy clients. Our ability to rapidly mobilise a marine cable repair vessel and spread in support of highly skilled JDR technicians will differentiate our service.”
