The jacket, weighing 985 tonnes, was transported by the Matador 3 from the dry dock to the Engie Fabricom yard, where it was placed on a pontoon.

The topside and jacket for Burbo Bank Extension, for which Smulders is in charge, are scheduled to leave towards their final destination at the west coast of England this month.

Offshore construction of the 258MW wind farm is scheduled to start in June.

Burbo Bank Extension will comprise 32 MHI Vestas 8MW wind turbines. The wind farm, located 8 kilometres off the coast in Liverpool Bay, UK, is an addition to the operational Burbo Bank.

DONG Energy, the owner and developer of the project, has recently sold a 50% stake in the wind farm to Denmark’s pension fund PKA, and KIRKBI A/S, the parent company of the LEGO Group.
