Dutch Sizing Up French Offshore Wind Market

Strengthening business ties within the offshore wind industry will be high on the agenda during the Dutch trade mission to France, led by Lilianne Ploumen, the country’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, scheduled for 10 and 11 March, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency reports.

Hans Timmers, the President of the Netherlands Wind Energy Association (NWEA), will join the mission and host the sessions on offshore wind during the two-day visit, according to NWEA.

The aim of the trade mission, among others, is to promote trade, opportunities for mutual investments, and technological cooperation within the industry.

France sees the development of its offshore wind capacity as a crucial part of the recently adopted law to reduce its dependence on nuclear energy, and secure 30% of power needs from renewable sources by 2030.

NWEA is currently trying to get in touch with French companies in the offshore wind sector that could utilize Dutch innovations and services in the sector.

The Dutch trade mission to France will run in parallel with the state visit of the Dutch King and Queen.
