EMO to Watch Over Veja Mate

Germany’s EMS Maritime Offshore GmbH (EMO) and Veja Mate Offshore Project GmbH signed a contract for guarding the offshore wind farm with its fleet of guard vessel.

Starting in January 2016, the vessel provided by EMO will evaluate if any risk of collision or unauthorised entrance from non project-related traffic is likely to occur and take measures accordingly during the entire installation phase of the 400MW offshore wind farm.

“We are proud to be a part of the Veja Mate Project” said Jan Heyenga, Head of Project & Charter Management at EMO.

“Guarding an offshore wind farm is an important task of each project. We are looking forward onto a trustful cooperation.”

The offshore wind farm Veja Mate is located 95 kilometres to the northwest of the island Borkum and is connected to the transmission grid via the already installed converter station “BorWin 2.”

The wind farm comprises 67 wind turbines capable of providing power for around one million people a year.
