UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) revealed that Fluor Ltd and Siemens Winpower A/S were sentenced on October 2 after a worker was killed and another seriously injured while loading wind turbine blades onto a barge for delivery to Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm on 21 May 2010.

IWES to Test Adwen’s 8MW Turbine

Adwen and Fraunhofer IWES have signed an agreement to test the drivetrain for Adwen’s next generation turbine of 8MW rated power, the largest offshore turbine on the market.

400MW Offshore Wind Farm Planned for Hawaii

Progression Hawaii Offshore Wind Inc, a company formed by Progression Energy from Oregon and several investors, plans to submit a lease application to the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management for a 400MW wind project off Hawaii, Pacific Business News reported.

Siemens Presents New Offshore Wind Grid Connection Solution

Siemens has introduced a new solution for connecting offshore wind turbines to the grid. Presented at the National Maritime Conference in Bremerhaven, the direct-current technology enables a cost-efficient and simplified connection of offshore wind power plants far from the coast, Siemens said.
