Fire Breaks Out at Vestas’ Turbine Blade Facility

A chemical store that is part of Vestas’ facility for the development of large wind turbine blades on Isle of Wight caught fire.

Two Companies Sentenced for 2010 Fatal Accident

UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) revealed that Fluor Ltd and Siemens Winpower A/S were sentenced today after a worker was killed and another seriously injured while loading wind turbine blades onto a barge for delivery to Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm on 21 May 2010.

The last turbine at DONG Energy ‘s Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm was installed in May. Of the total of 78 turbines, 77 are sitting on monopile foundations while one serves for testing of the Suction Bucket Jacket foundation.
