BOEM to Discuss South Carolina’s Offshore Wind

The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will hold a South Carolina Renewable Energy Task Force meeting on September 9.

BOEM will present the details of a draft Federal Register notice titled Commercial Leasing for Wind Power on the Outer Continental Shelf Offshore South Carolina – Call for Information and Nominations.

BOEM intends to gather information from the task force to inform its future decisions in delineating lease areas for wind energy development offshore South Carolina. During the meeting, government agencies will discuss the offshore renewable energy planning process and present survey information collected from recent efforts.

Following the Task Force discussion, BOEM intends to publish the Call for public comment.

The session will begin at 12:00 p.m. and is expected to end by 4:30 p.m. A public question and answer session will be held upon its conclusion.

Task force members include Federal officials and elected state, local, and tribal officials, or designated member representatives.
