Vattenfall Picks Local Companies for Kentish Flats Extension

Vattenfall, the Swedish energy company behind the extension to Kentish Flats offshore wind farm, has appointed a Thanet business to build an extension to its operations centre for the scheme.

The building extension in Ramsgate harbour is being built by Ramsgate-based BEC and a number of locally based subcontractors, such as groundwork specialists PKR Services, Grummant Heating, Total Electric, Metalfab, B&H Brickwork, RFV Gasking Carpenters, Complete Roofing and All-Access Scaffolding. Building is due to be completed in the summer and it secures work for BEC’s 17 local builders for several months as well as work for their supply chain.

Matthew Green, Vattenfall’s Project Manager for the Kentish Flats Extension, said: “Kentish Flats Extension is probably one of the biggest inward investments in Kent this year. It’s important the local economy benefits. That’s why Vattenfall, and our key suppliers, will support local business where we can. So we’re delighted to be working with Ramsgate-based BEC and its local suppliers on the extension to the Operation and Maintenance facility.”
