39 Wind Turbines Up at Borkum Riffgrund 1

The Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind farm has reached halfway with the installation of 39 wind turbines.

Due to good weather conditions during the last weeks the team was able to make good progress in installing the turbines about 54 kilometres off the German North Sea coast. At the same time, the cabling work for connecting the wind turbines is also well on track.

“We are delighted that our first German offshore wind farm from DONG Energy is well on its way. We continue to strengthen our position as market leader in building and planning offshore wind farms. And we will make further progress this year by starting to build Gode Wind 1 and 2,” said Trine Borum Bojsen, Managing Director from DONG Energy in Germany and responsible for Wind Power.

The installation of the remaining wind turbines will be finished within the next month. The wind farm will be capable of generating up to 312 megawatts (MW) of green electricity for approximately 320.000 households in Germany.

The project is developed by DONG Energy, William Demant Invest A/S and Kirkbi Invest A/S.
