France Works to Accelerate Offshore Wind Development

French Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, Ségolène Royal, yesterday announced six new measures to accelerate the development of renewable energy and thus faster creation of “green” jobs.

Minister Royal introduced an offshore wind amendment that could allow competitive dialogues in the next call for tenders. Also, she requested the prefects to extend the deadline for consultations on land designations, so that they are concluded under good conditions.

The country will launch its third offshore wind tender this year. In addition, the Government announced last year that it will launch a call for expression of interest for floating wind farm project.
