Havkraft’s CEO Joins IEA Marine Renewable Board of Directors

Geir Arne Solheim, CEO of Havkraft, a Norwegian technology company which developed the H-WEC wave energy converter, has joined the International Energy Agency (IEA) Marine Renewable board of directors, it was announced yesterday on the company’s social media pages.

“This is a unique opportunity to be in the forefront of the global industry, to gain experience and to contribute with our knowledge into a great organization,” Solheim said.

Solheim was selected to the board by the Norwegian Wind Energy Association (NORWEA).

At the end of last year, Havkraft launched the first prototype of its wave power system. One and a half year after Havkraft received NOK 4.5 million (approximately EUR 506,015) in funding from Innovation Norway, the prototype of the wave power device was installed off the Norwegian municipality of Selje.

The wave energy developer expects to kick off with the demo project development this year.
