K-Sure Provides Funds for Seajacks Scylla

Seajacks has secured funding for its wind turbine installation vessel, Seajacks Scylla, which will be built by Samsung Heavy Industries.

Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-sure) stated it will provide USD 250 million for the vessel.

Seajacks Scylla has been specifically designed to meet the demands associated with working on UK Round 3 offshore wind sites, Scottish territorial waters and other North West European markets. The vessel is based on the Gusto MSC NG14000X design and will be the fifth new self-propelled jack-up to join the Seajacks fleet since 2009. Seajacks also has options for the construction of additional two units.

Equipped with 1500t leg-encircling crane and 105 metre long legs, Seajacks Scylla will be able to work in water depths of up to 65 metres.

The vessel is due to be delivered in September 2015.
