Eneco Luchterduinen Export Cable Makes Beach Landing (Gallery)

With arrival of the export cable at the Dutch shore on Wednesday, the Luchterduinen offshore wind farm, located 23 kilometers off the coast of Noordwijk and Zandvoort, has reached another important realisation step.

The cable will transport the energy of 43 wind turbines with a total capacity of 129MW to shore. It will take the installation vessel NDurance about two weeks to install the cable from the shore to the high voltage substation at the wind farm. The cable will be buried by means of burial tool Trenchformer.

The next step will be to connect the export cable and the land cable in the beach pit near Noordwijk.

The land cable connection from the beach to the substation of TSO TenneT in Sassenheim has already been completed and successfully tested last month. The construction works at the beach are expected to be finished in November 2014, while the wind farm itself is expected to be operational by the end of 2015.
