WindGuard Accredited to Certify Wind Turbines

WindGuard Certification is accredited by the German accreditation body, DAkkS (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle), for the certification of wind turbines and components, thus opening up the market for wind turbine certification.

“Type and component certification of wind turbines requires a high level of very detailed and wide-ranging technical know-how on the part of the certifier,” says Dr. Kai Irschik, managing director of WindGuard Certification. “DAkkS-Accreditation attests to our technical expertise. Our team’s background is in the development and inspection of wind turbines. Furthermore, we have the concentrated competence of the WindGuard group at our disposal. Thus, we command the necessary long- term experience to know what matters in the field. We can, therefore, provide manufacturers of wind turbines and components, as well as project developers, with a real alternative to the established certification bodies.”

Type certification is a prerequisite for building and selling new types of wind turbines. It verifies that the turbine has been developed and produced in conformity with recognized industry standards and guidelines.
