Dorset County Council Opposes to Navitus Bay Offshore Wind Project

On a cabinet meeting held on June 4, the Council followed the decision of its Planning Committee, made the day before, basing its disapproval mostly on the same concerns voiced by the Committee.

Beside the project’s impact on the environment, visibility of night skies, birds and other wildlife, the Council questioned whether the offshore wind farm would endanger the UNESCO World Heritage Site status of the Jurassic Coast, the Dorset Echo writes.

Also, the Council was worried that there may be a difference between the project’s estimated and actual power output.

Dorset County Council will soon submit this final response on the Navitus Bay project to the Planning Inspectorate.
