This self-contained method is proving to be of huge benefit to the industry as the system makes the essential process of offshore wind turbine oil exchange much safer, cleaner and allot less time consuming than the traditional method of oil exchange via 20 litre drums.

Peter Lonsdorfer’s modular fully enclosed and bunded offshore oil change units significantly reduce risk by reducing lifting operations and using a closed loop oil pumping system which also ensures the highest oil cleanliness level is met and due to the efficient and effective pumping system the oil changes as well as any system flushing required can be achieved in a fraction of the time.

Their specialised oil change units can be fitted to many vessels already used in the offshore wind industry at present allowing it to be utilised for single day trips from port to turbine to carry out complete gear box and hydraulic oil changes and are also able to facilitate 24 hour operations on a 12 hour shift rota for as long as four weeks at sea without the need for the vessel to return to port for the replenishment of new oil.

In early August 2013 Peter Lonsdorfer UK ltd became the first company worldwide to complete an offshore wind turbine combined gear and hydraulic oil change for Siemens on the Lynn and Inner Dowsing offshore wind farms and since then has continued to work for Siemens their and on other offshore sites one after another to ensure a safe, clean and the time critical service process is met. This system is now being seen by many as essential part of the offshore wind industry now and for many years to come.
