At a recent official launch of the Race Bank offshore wind farm project in Sutton Bridge, Dong Energy confirmed that it is looking for a suitable location for the project’s base, which could create 90 direct jobs.

Robert Thornhill, Dong Energy’s project development manager said that the company could use more than just one facility for the project. “We are going through a process of reviewing the facilities that are available around the coast. It is an early stage but we are aware of Grimsby, Wells-next-the-Sea, and we are also looking on the Lincolnshire coast,” the Grimsby Telegraph quotes Mr. Thornhill as saying.

The company already manages the construction of its Westermost Rough offshore wind farm from the Fish Dock in Grimsby. Work is currently underway at the Royal Dock in Grimsby to build a permanent home for the Operations and Maintenance team, who will service the Westermost Rough wind farm over its 25-year lifetime.

At the end of last year, Dong Energy bought the offshore wind project from Centrica, paying GBP 50 million for it. Recently, the company awarded a contract to Atkins, which will design offshore substations for the Race Bank project.
