Timmons Adds AXYS to Its Team

Timmons Selects AXYS as New Team Member

Timmons Group chose  AXYS Technologies Inc (AXYS) to become a member of its team recently awarded a research project funded by the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy (DMME) to explore new methods of metocean and offshore environmental monitoring.

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced on March 26, 2014 that the Timmons Group proposal was one of the four successful responses to the DMME request for proposal (RFP). The results from the research and development activities conducted through these project awards will help lower costs and risks for commercial offshore wind power development on the Outer Continental Shelf off the coast of Virginia.

The Timmons Group team has developed a comprehensive approach to advance the current state-of-the-science in metocean and environmental monitoring. Their team includes an interdisciplinary group of recognized experts in the fields required to perform the services required for this contract.

“We look forward to realizing some practical solutions that will help to reduce the overall cost of harnessing wind power offshore,” commented Terry Tarle, AXYS President & CEO.

Rick Thomas of the Timmons Group said: “We selected AXYS for their unique combination of considerable experience combined with innovative systems integration techniques that will assist us to produce a reliable, state of the art monitoring solution.”
