STX Loads Electrical Substation

STX Loads Electrical Substation

The offshore electrical substation, built by the STX France Saint-Nazaire yard for Dong Energy was transferred over less than one kilometer between the pre-erection area and the outfitting dock yesterday.

Once there, it has been loaded onto a barge dedicated to its shipping to the Westermost Rough wind farm located 8 km off the Yorkshire coast.

The transfer has been carefully prepared by the yard teams and that of Scales, French specialist of abnormal haulage and huge tonnage. Despite a cold and rainy weather, the 1 500 t – 35 m x 50 m x 25 m structure reached the outfitting dock at the end of the morning hauled by 4 heavy lift carriers. Few hours later, loading onto the barge was completed.

Next week, the piles and jacket will be loaded onto the same barge.
