USA Emera Welcomes MPUC's Approval

Emera welcomed the Maine Public Utilities Commission’s term sheet consent for Maine Aqua Ventus I offshore wind project, writes the Herald Business.

Dina Bartolacci Seely, Emera spokeswoman said: “We’re obviously very pleased.”

As Maine Aqua Ventus I is competing against seven other projects for USD 46 million, this approval is very significant for the project developers.

Jake Ward, project spokesman, believes that they have “a unique opportunity to make Maine one of the first homes for floating offshore wind technology in the U.S.”

Emera Inc., Cianbro Corporation and Maine Prime Technologies, LLC, teamed up to make the project a reality, which will consist of two wind turbines with a total capacity of 12 MW in the Gulf of Maine.
