BIS Bremerhaven Economic Development Company to Present a Book at EWEA Offshore 2013

The BIS Bremerhaven Economic Development Company Ltd. will present the newly released book at the EWEA Offshore trade fair at 3.30pm on 19th November 2013.

The book called “Eine Stadt im Aufwind. Mehr als 10 Jahre voller Energie: Wie Bremerhaven die Offshore-Windenergie vorantreibt” will be launched in the context of a panel discussion moderated by Andreas Neumann (Radio Bremen TV) at the booth of the Federal State of Bremen (hall 3.1, booth 31 C 80).

Throughout the nineties Bremerhaven was a symbol of an economic decline in consequence of the crisis in the shipbuilding industry and the relocation of the American forces. Nowadays the wind has changed at the Weser River: Bremerhaven stands for a far-reaching structural change that attracts attention in the whole of Europe. There is a coming and going of European and Overseas economic delegations which like to learn how the seaside town has managed to become the industrial and scientific centre for the use of the offshore wind energy in Germany.

In the newly released book, the authors Gabriele Becker, Rita Kellner-Stoll and Ralf Köpke describe this development, as well as the economic and political key players. Also full-page portraits retell the working life stories of inhabitants
of Bremerhaven closely connected to the offshore wind industry. If nothing else the great number of photographs and pictures makes the documentation a lively compendium of more than ten years offshore wind energy in Bremerhaven.
