VIDEO: Construction of West of Duddon Sands OWF

West of Duddon Sands Offshore Windfarm, a project which is a joint development between ScottishPower Renewables and DONG Energy, is currently under construction in the East Irish Sea, approximately 14 km from the nearest coast on Walney Island, Cumbria.

At the beginning of September, CT Offshore announced that it was halfway through the project with laying and installation of 54 cables of the total of 108. Also, Bladt Industries informed this month that it had sent away the last three foundations for the project from its facilities in Denmark.

On January 23rd 2013, Combi Lift’s heavy-lift vessel MV ‘EIT PALMINA’ started working on the project by transporting a total of 108 transition pieces.

A total installed capacity of 389MW will ensure renewable energy for more than 300,000 UK households.
