Germany Arcadis Ost 1 Receives Preliminary Approval

Last week, German regulators awarded the preliminary approval for the Arcadis Ost 1 offshore wind farm project. The wind farm will be located on the 30 square kilometers area, approximately 19 kilometers northeast of Cape Arkona.

The developer chose Alstom’s 6MW wind turbines for this project.

“After Baltic 1 wind farm went into operation in May 2011, Arcadis Ost 1 will be the second wind farm in coastal waters of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. I hope that the investor will quickly obtain the necessary permits so that the construction can begin as planned in mid-2016. I am particularly pleased that the future operator has promised to participate in a proposed research project for the protection of harbour porpoises in the Baltic Sea, in addition to the necessary nature conservation during the construction, “said Energy Minister Volker Schlotmann.

The wind farm will be connected with the 150 kilovolt cable to the transformer station in Lüdershagen.
