UK: BWS Inspects D1 Area for Offshore Wind

On the 17th and 18th October Niels Tolstrup and Jacob Kjærgaard from Blue Water Shipping visited Belfast office and inspected the finished D1 area that is to be used for the handling and shipping of foundations and turbines for the West of Duddon Sands offshore wind project in the Irish Sea.

“D1 was handed over to the port early this week and DONG Energy will overtake in the beginning of next year where the foundations and 108 Siemens turbines will be installed. It is an impressing area to see with its new quay facility and the good acces to the Irish Sea. There is absolutely no doubt that considerations and risk assesments has been carried well out prior to construction and we believe that this new area will make Belfast a very important player for the Irish Sea offshore wind projects in the future of course starting with WODS from next year”, says Jacob Kjærgaard.

Blue Water Shipping established Blue Water Ewings Shipping together with Michael F. Ewings Shipping in Belfast earlier this year combining the global experience of Blue Water with the local knowhow of Ewings for the offshore wind activities in Belfast.
