India: Offshore Wind Energy Steering Committee Constituted

The Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah, informed Lok Sabha today in a written reply the Government has constituted an Offshore Wind Energy Steering Committee under the chairmanship of Secretary, MNRE to steer the wind energy development in the country in a directed and focused manner.

A sub-committee has also been constituted to suggest draft policy guidelines for development of offshore wind energy projects in the country and submit the report to the Government.

The Offshore Wind Energy Steering Committee has been constituted with the members comprising of the stakeholder Departments / Organizations / Ministries.

Government has not prepared any guidelines for development of offshore wind energy projects in the country.
