East Anglia's Electricity Pylons Could Ruin Area (UK)

Waveney MP Peter Aldous raised a concern over electricity pylons connecting East Anglian wind farms to the grid, says EDP 24.

He thinks that renewable energy could bring employment boom in the region, but he is also worried about pylons ruining the area.

The East Anglia Zone is located, at its closest point, 14km from the coast of Norfolk and Suffolk and covers an area of approximately 6,000km2, with water depths ranging from 10m to 72m. They have the potential to generate up to 7,200MW of clean, green energy, which could provide power for approximately five million homes.

EAOW, the joint venture between ScottishPower Renewables and Vattenfall Wind Power, is planning to develop East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm.

This wind farm will be located 43.4 km off the coast of Norfolk and Suffolk and covers an area of 300km2.
